"Saint Prophet Elijah" Foundation - Volunteer Kitchen

The "Saint Prophet Elijah" Foundation - Volunteer Kitchen was established for the benefit of poor residents of Sofia, at the "Saint Prophet Elijah" Church, in the Druzhba neighborhood.

The founder of the foundation and organizer of the activity is Moni Marinov, who, together with a group of young people 25 years ago, created this place as a kitchen in which they prepare and distribute food to those in need from all over Sofia once a week.

With the blessing of Bishop Hilarion of Trajanopolis and the priests at the temple, the volunteer organization has been working without interruption for a quarter of a century.
Every Saturday, over 400 people receive, in addition to a portion of hot food, a package with additional products - a sandwich, bread, milk, fruit, canned goods, desserts and everything else, which is collected every week thanks to dozens of donors.

The organization's goals are to collect, prepare, and donate food to people for more than one meal. To attract dozens of volunteers every week to give them the opportunity to educate themselves and their children in charity and care for others.

In the last 10 years alone, more than 10,000 people have volunteered in the kitchen. Corporate, student and university groups, and many individuals, often entire families, have donated their labor to us, and many of them continue to do so.

Dozens of volunteers have taken on the responsibility to be even more involved, actively participating in the organization and conduct of the shifts, in their capacity as "on-duty officers." They are the mentors of the volunteers, they take full responsibility for the successful conduct of each shift.

Donors such as Eliaz Bakery, Communitas Foundation, Disposable Company, and dozens of other companies and individuals provide products and money that make our activities possible.
